Jimmy Ashe ran for the Sheriff of Jackson County in 2002 under a very simple idea. The idea that there are three institutions of social control in our society. Religion, Families, and Schools are those three controls.  Jimmy feels that when these controls fail, then we fail. Therefore, if he can maintain a liaison with these controls, the community can become reunited.  Jimmy uses his ideas to create and bond a relationships with each of these social controls in order to make Jackson County a place of quality life and environment.

His goals are set forth as follows:

  • Establish a Citizens Advisory Board to ensure the expectations of the public are expressed to their law enforcement representative.
  • Strive to achieve National Accreditation for the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center.
  • Increase and address security needs of our courthouse and detention facility by implementing new operational plans and electronic upgrades.
  • Expand patrol operations to include two officers in each of the districts with a supervising Sergeant.
  • Address the future growth of this county and law enforcement facilities to ensure a stable infrastructure that will provide the best law enforcement services for the citizens of Jackson County. This would include the construction of a multi purpose room in the Detention Center for jail ministries and educational programs.
  • Establish a system with the capabilities of identifying a sex offender watch and locating sex offenders in the county.
  • Develop a system that places a GPS mechanism on Alzheimer’s patients and citizens with other disabilities for the purpose of tracking if they are lost or missing.
  • Expand Criminal Investigations staff to cover property crimes and other related crimes.
  • Expand Management Support staff to ensure proper support of all systems, programs, and units to meet the rising demand of law enforcement services and staff requests.
  • Expand Civil Process staff to include a Child Support Enforcement Officer that will address child support services and nonsupport issues.
